The name Ka Huna originates from ancient Hawaii where the Shamans, known as Ka Hunas, would practice healing initiations. A ceremonial affair, their techniques involved various cleansing practices, prayer, chanting/singing and massage referred to as Hawaiian Temple Style or Lomi Lomi.
An holistic approach, acknowledging the whole body, mind and spirit in practices that could last for days!
Attuned and deeply connected to the elements these people understood; when we are in tune with our natural environment we are in tune with our innate selves, our energy flows freely and healing takes place.
In recent years this massage has been brought to the West.
As with most indigenous and modern day healing techniques it is understood that trauma and emotion can store in the cells and DNA of the body. With guided breathing and Bayside Ka Huna's unique style of flow and deep release techniques, the physical body is able to surrender and stored emotions and energy to clear.
It is my belief that the more we learn the more we grow, so I am always learning and adding tools to my belt. My style of Ka Huna also brings in elements from other modalities I have picked up along the way.
I like to bring the dance to the client, helping to create greater physical and energetic flow.
A session may also include chanting/toning, fascia release, body pulsing, shamanic medicine drumming, breath work, dynamic stretches, remedial massage techniques, tsubo/pressure point and meridian work.
Massages are adapted to suit individual requirements.
Bayside Ka Huna offers 4 styles of massage.
Ka Huna Table Flow
Ka Huna Table Flow is a full body oil massage that applies long flowing strokes, soft and deep tissue techniques to provide you with an experience like no other!
Using forearms, elbows and palms of hands; music enhances the rhythm of the session as your practitioner moves around you in a Tai Chi like motion, massaging with a dynamic flow, following the contours of the muscles/body.
Ka Huna Earth Flow
Ka Huna Earth Flow is a fully clothed treatment performed on a mat on the floor/earth. Similar to Thai and Shiatsu. Think deep stretches, pressure point releases, whilst maintaining a distinctly Ka Huna flow.
Grounding restorative bliss!
Mixed Modalities (2 hours only)
Bringing together a fusion of tools gathered over the years. Working with many techniques both on and off the table to facilitate a full healing experience.
Ka Huna massage is a safe and nurturing treat for pregnant Mammas.
With special support, the table unlatches to allow the new Mum to rest comfortably face down with her baby and belly snug in the supported space.
