I’m no aromatherapist. I’m not fixated on any particular label. I look for sales and shop around.
I do love essential oils though and will share a couple of present favs. For those unaware, oil is a necessity in Ka Huna Massage. Not too much so as to be a slippery and somewhat unpleasant experience, but just enough to glide around the body and contours of the muscles. The right amount will mean there is enough skin tissue friction to be able to work firmly and deep where necessary. I use a combination of coconut and grapeseed oils. It is heated is a baby bottle warming device, works really well for any therapists wanting to heat oil. I have a favourite heat balm made by Hand Made Naturals. It’s divine and perfect for necks, sacrum and kidney areas. It smells of peppermint and cinnamon, there is also clove, rosemary and basil in there too! Srumdiddlyumptious! My 2 favourite oils of the moment come from Australian Oils of Nature. Kunzea which is believed to be one of the most healing native Ozzy oils. It grows coastal in the more Southern states and was first discovered because it was noticed that animals would often shelter and sleep beneath them. A tick free rest and a happy creature! Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anxiety relieving – all the good stuff. Frankincense Serrata which is different from Carterri. Serrata is also known as Indian frankincense and is used in many Ayurvedic potions and Carterri is found mostly in parts of Africa and is a thicker resin and the more expensive of the 2. I thought I would try the Serrata for economical purposes. I love it, it has the woody notes that frankincense is famous for and I can use is freely as an addition to my massage dipping bowl. It is known for anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and analgesic qualities. Also, anti-aging so it gets the big A+ tick of Approval. Rest assured, you will float away from your next Ka Huna Massage in a bliss of aroma and a little bit of therapy!
